Sto pensando di sostituire il mio server basato su Windows esistente sulla mia piccola azienda (< 10 dipendenti) con un mini server Mac con Lion Server installato. Ma dopo aver dato un'occhiata all'App Store, ho notato molte recensioni a 1 stella che etichettano questo sistema operativo come "un giocattolo", "instabile", "downgrade rispetto a Leopard Server" e così via. Il mio utilizzo per questo sarebbe essenzialmente per la gestione della posta elettronica (ma usando Kerio per avere supporto per lo scambio), calendario, sito web interno (app web), gestione account, alcune app centralizzate (accessibili tramite VNC), gestione dei dispositivi basati su iOS , La virtualizzazione di Windows per supportare le applicazioni legacy (essenzialmente per la contabilità), VPN.

Non sto chiedendo una revisione completa di questo sistema operativo, questo non è il posto giusto, ma solo un breve commento da parte degli utenti della comunità che hanno avuto il cambiamento di lavorare con questo nuovo sistema operativo.

Non ho mai provato nessuno dei prodotti Mac Server. Ma AnandTech ha una buona revisione approfondita di Mac OS X Lion Server . Alcune delle conclusioni:

OS X Server is most useful in a handful of different scenarios: the first is that you have a small network that’s in need of a full-featured but easy-to-manage and simple-to-license server product. The second is that you’re managing a network of any size that used to be all-Windows, but hosts a growing number of Macs (this is often the case in education, for example) - OS X Server knows that it’s going to be finding its way into a lot of Windows houses, and as such it integrates fairly well with existing Active Directory setups. The last is that you have a bunch of iOS devices flooding your network and you have no idea what to do with them - iOS management may be Lion Server’s ace in the hole.

Continua ad usare git, usa il server OSX come repository centrale (forse considera l'acquisto di GitHub Enterprise o usa un'alternativa gratuita / open source per gestendo la tua interazione git). Installa uno strumento CI ( Jenkins o simile) sul server e usalo per creare build automatizzati. Dovrebbe funzionare abbastanza bene.
