C'è un server remoto a cui posso collegarmi solo tramite SSH, e lo spazio di archiviazione mi è stato assegnato in quel server.
Esiste un software che mi consente di "montare" una condivisione di rete tramite SSH in modo che possa essere utilizzata come se fosse una cartella locale?
Preferisco strongmente soluzioni cross-platform e gratuite (come in Freedom), ma qualsiasi cosa tu possa pensare mi piacerebbe sapere.

Usa HomeBrew per installare fuse4x e sshfs
I comandi da installare sono:
brew install sshfs
quando lo esegui, fornisce altri due comandi che dovevo eseguire per installare l'estensione del kernel fuse4x. Eseguili.
Quindi, per montare il filesystem ssh
mkdir ~/mymountdir
sshfs username@hostname:/home/thedir ~/mymountdir
ti chiederà la password.
Non l'ho provato, ma per quello che vale, la pagina man per il comando Unix mount elenca che puoi connettere a sistemi remoti:
The mount command calls the mount(2) system call to prepare and graft a
special device or the remote node (rhost:path) on to the file system tree
at the point node. If either special or node are not provided, the
appropriate information is obtained via the getfsent(3) library routines.
