Sono un po 'confuso sulla terminologia nell'HIP (Host Identity Protocol)
I due termini distinti Identità host e Identificatore host sono descritti in link (sezione 3.2) come
Host Identity | An abstract concept assigned to a 'computing platform'
e
Host Identifier | A public key used as a name for a Host Identity.

Each host will have at least one Host Identity, but it will typically have more than one. Each Host Identity uniquely identifies a single host; i.e., no two hosts have the same Host Identity. The Host Identity, and the corresponding Host Identifier, can be either public (e.g., published in the DNS) or unpublished. Client systems will tend to have both public and unpublished Identities. There is a subtle but important difference between Host Identities and Host Identifiers. An Identity refers to the abstract entity that is identified. An Identifier, on the other hand, refers to the concrete bit pattern that is used in the identification process.
Si afferma "l'identità dell'ospite è un concetto astratto" che è piuttosto vago. Che cosa è in realtà? Viene anche descritto che "Identità host identifica univocamente un singolo host", ma non come. D'altra parte un identificatore di host è molto concreto e facilmente comprensibile: è una chiave pubblica utilizzata come nome (identificativo) per un host.
Ciò che mi confonde anche è che due libri su HIP che ho iniziato a leggere hanno già sbagliato nelle prime pagine. Per esempio. " Verso l'Internet mobile sicuro ": "I protocolli di trasporto utilizzano una identità dell'host crittografico anziché IP indirizzi. "(mentre l'identificatore host dovrebbe essere usato qui, poiché è crittografico)
Anche "Protocollo HIP (Host Identity Protocol): verso Internet Mobile Sicuro Andrei Gurtov 2008 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. ISBN: 978-0-470-99790-1" afferma nel Capitolo 1 Panoramica Pagina 1:
"HIP also includes security as an inherent part of its design, because its “host identities” are cryptographic keys that can be used with many established security algorithms"
Ho ragione nel dire che i libri hanno sbagliato? Che cos'è in realtà l'identità dell'host?
